The sodium salt of fluorescein is called uranine which are used in dying silk and wool, in oceanography as a marker in sea water, and in coloring agrochemicals, fertilizers, detergents and antifreezers. Fluorescein sodium (uranine) is an orange-red crystalline powder; odorless, water-soluble. In biology, it is used as a detection agent for visible images of structures or details which are not seen by eyes.
